How to get a Grand County Public Library Card

Applicants must fill out a registration form and provide proof of identity AND residency in person at the Library. Adults must have a library card before a juvenile card can be issued.

Acceptable Proof of Identity

Government or school issued photo ID.

Acceptable Proof of Residency

(Note:  proof must list street address not P.O. Box address or Personal Mailbox address)

  • Current Utah driver’s license with a Grand County and/or 84532 address
  • Piece of mail delivered by the post office/FedEx/UPS to street address with applicant’s name with a Grand County and/or 84532 address. Note – The library can mail applicant a free postcard to their street address which they can then bring back as proof of residency (usually only takes a couple days).
  • Utility Bill in applicant’s name with a Grand County and/or 84532 address.
  • Vehicle registration in applicant’s name with a Grand County and/or 84532 address.
  • Signed rental agreement in applicant’s name with a Grand County and/or 84532 address.
  • Bank statement or checkbook with a Grand County and/or 84532 address.
  • Signed letter from employer stating that applicant lives in employer provided housing with a Grand County and/or 84532 address.
  • Signed letter from current and in good standing library cardholder stating that applicant lives with them at a Grand County and/or 84532 address.
  • Presentation of an expired Grand County library card signed by the applicant.

 
Types of Library Cards

Resident Card

Costs $1 and may be renewed for free indefinitely as long as patron is still a resident of Grand County or has an 84532 zipcode. 

Cardholder is limited to checking out two items for the first month and then the limit goes up to 10 items.  Cardholder has computer access.

In order to get a Resident Card you must follow the instructions above.


Quarterly Non-Resident Adult Card

Cost is $15/adult card* and the card expires 3 months from the registration date.  It may be renewed indefinitely in 3 month increments for $15.

Must be able to provide a gov’t issued picture ID. 

Cardholder can check out four items at a time and have computer access.

Adults with this type of card may be guarantors for free juvenile or teen quarterly non-resident cards.  These juv/teen cards will be listed as guarantors and renewed whenever the adult card is renewed.


Annual Non-Resident Adult Card

Costs $60/adult card* and the card expires 1 year from the registration date. It may be renewed indefinitely in 1 year increments for $60.

Must be able to provide a gov’t issued picture ID. 

Cardholder can checkout 10 items immediately and have computer access.

Adults with this type of card may be guarantors for free juvenile or teen annual non-resident cards.  These juvenile/teen cards will be listed as guarantors and renewed whenever the adult card is renewed.

The Non-Resident Fee is no longer a “family” fee - it is per adult card.  This applies to existing cards when they need to be renewed. 

* Once a fee is paid library staff cannot give refunds or apply what a patron has paid to an annual non-resident card.  We cannot accept partial payments for a partial term.
