Moab Valley Fire Protection District (MVFPD) provides the
following:
- Fire Prevention & Suppression Services
- Technical Rescue and Support Services
- Commercial Occupancy Plan Reviews & Fire
and Life Safety Inspection Services
- Public Safety & Prevention Education
- Public CPR & First Aid Training
MVFPD encompasses all of the City of Moab and some unincorporated
areas of Grand County for a total land area of 29.66 square miles. The
District operates 15 vehicles from two stations, and a third
station is currently being planned. The District employs
three full-time career firefighters and 34 volunteer firefighters. MVFPD
is governed by three elected commissioners who appoint the district's
chief. The Chief is the District's Administrator and Operations
Manager. The chain of command for the district is
as follows:
- Chief
- Assistant Chief
- 2 Battalion Chiefs
- 4 Captains
- 4 Lieutenants
- Firefighters
The Chief appoints a Safety Officer, Training Officer and
Public Information Officer.MVFPD has experienced an average
call volume of 300 over the past 5 years, with an average response
time of 5 minutes from time of notification, to time of of
first arriving unit. The District is currently rated
at class 5 by the Insurance Services Office, Inc.
