Read for a Better World Online Reading Challenge for All Ages 

January 1st-31st!

Winter Reading 2022 Challenge

Winter Reading 2022: Read for a Better World encourages readers of all ages to explore diversity, empathy, and action through literature.  Our community has unlimited access to Lerner Publisher’s “Read for a Better World” themed ebooks for the month of January through this challenge’s activities! To complete the challenge read a total of four hours or more by the end of January! Reading to someone or being read to counts too! Earn new Read for a Better World virtual badges! Everyone who registers will receive a packet of hot chocolate mix. Packets will be available for pick up starting Monday, January 3rd. Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a coupon for a free donut at The Donut Shop! Children under 3 who complete the challenge will also earn a bottle of bubbles. Youth ages 3-17 who complete the challenge will also earn two spiky inflatable sensory balls. Adults who complete the challenge will also earn a set of charming bookplates. All registration and completion rewards are available first come/first served while supplies last.

You will track your progress online with our Beanstack Reading Challenge Website or by downloading the Beanstack Tracker app (starting January 1st)

Logging reading minutes is really easy using the Beanstack Tracker app. It even includes a reading timer!

(If you participated in a previous online Reading Challenge, just use the same account. Call the library if you need help finding your old Beanstack account information.)

Follow these easy directions to download and get started with the app:

  1. Search for Beanstack Tracker and download.  
  2.  Open the app and click "Let's Go!" 
  3. Choose an organization type - "Select School, Library or Bookstore"  
  4. Tap on "Find a Site" 
  5.  Search for "Grand County Public Library".
  6. Tap on "Grand County Public Library".
  7. Tap on "Don’t Have an Account? Sign up!"  
  8. Create one account and add all the members of your family as readers on that one account.
  9. Start logging your reading minutes!
