The Dugout Ranch: A Land Use Perspective with Author Lee Bennett

Thursday, February 15, 2024

Lee Bennett will discuss her recent book "Dugout Ranch: A Land Use Perspective 1865-1975"

Author Lee Bennett Lee Bennett was a district ranger on the Monticello unit of the Manti-La Sal National Forest and has been researching the use of Dugout Ranch for 30+ years.

Meticulously researched, her book provides a land use perspective of Dugout Ranch, a homestead-turned-research center near the Needles District entrance of Canyonlands National Park in Utah. This book reviews the history, science, and politics involved regarding the use of public lands for ranching in this unique case in the American Southwest.

Presented by Grand County Public Library and Back of Beyond Books
