Amend the Grand County Land Use Code Article 4
“Special Purpose Overlay Districts” to establish an
Alternative Dwelling Overlay District Pilot Program
Project Title: Consider an ordinance to amend the Grand County Land Use Code to establish a permitting path for alternative dwelling communities, or long-term camp parks specifically to provide attainable, safe and dignified housing for local long-term and seasonal employees and residents of Grand County.
Project
Description: The Grand County Planning Commission and Planning & Zoning staff have crafted a pilot program to allow a limited number of Alternative Dwelling Overlay developments. The (ADO) District provides local workforce housing opportunities by allowing different types of non-traditional housing on a single lot to support market needs while respecting the character of existing neighborhoods and residential zones. By providing opportunities for a variety of dwelling types, to meet the demands of workforce housing, local businesses and the local economy may better survive and thrive. Short term accommodations are not a permitted use within an approved ADO development.
The final draft of the proposed amended code will be posted to the https://grandcountyconnects.com/housing-efforts webpage by September 15, 2022.
