[ARCHIVED] Outdoor Recreation Summit in Moab October 4 and 5

A message from Elaine Gizler Executive Director of the Moab Travel Council:

I had an opportunity to attend the Utah Outdoor Recreation Summit in Ogden last week.
I wanted to provide you with a short recap to possibly share with the local businesses, and anyone else we can encourage to attend the event in Moab on October 5th.

The event was well worth the trip and the cost.
Breakfast and lunch were included.
The session started off with Speakers/ Presenters , Tom Adams, Director for Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation hosted the event in Ogden, and our own Mayor Dave Sakrison was a featured speaker, along with the Gov. Gary R. Herbert, and Mayor Mike Caldwell of Ogden City.

The session was opening speakers, there were networking sessions and most importantly separate sessions that were held with key people/companies

The sessions included:
Outdoor Industry Trends & Insights for Business Strategy Sponsored by NPD
Using Social Media Effectively to Attract and Retain Customers or Draw Tourists
Collaboration Not Conflict: Discussions with land managers overcoming conflict to create recreational opportunities
Reducing Employee Costs and Maximizing Production with student interns
Show Me the Money- Grant Funding Resources to be Utilized for Outdoor Recreation Projects & Programs
Utah’s Outdoor Recreation Ten Year Plan: Get involved in this discussion and help us plan for Utah’s future
The Benefit of Outdoor Recreation on Utah’s Economy
Economic Development Lessons in How Ogden Transformed itself into an Outdoor Industry Mecca

I would encourage businesses, and County/City leaders to attend this upcoming event October 5th at Red Cliffs Lodge

The Moab Area Travel Council will also be sponsoring a Meet and Greet on October 4th for all attendees of the conference at the new Lions Boulder Park, food and beverages will be served. We will also have the Grand County High school Jazz Band playing for entertainment.
