Our Vision - We champion steady balance for parents ~ giving space for them to maintain the strength and energy needed to tenderly care for their little ones. We embrace the shared role to ensure children are safeguarded & loved.
Our Mission - We are committed to provide supportive resources, education and services to strengthen families & protect children.
Program Objectives - One of our core services is called Planned Respite. We offer childcare for ages 0-11 to encourage caregivers to take a break from the overwhelming and often stressful responsibility of parenthood. This is a free program for all parents and caregivers regardless of the circumstances or socioeconomic position. Allowing time to rejuventate helps restore the physical and mental strength required to fulfill the vital role of parenting. We facilitate research-based education courses throughout the year that refresh skills and teach parenting strategies. Additionally, we are a temporary shelter for children as some families experience emergency crisis situations. Our crisis respite nursery is available 24/7/365 for the purpose of reducing and preventing the incidence of child abuse in our community and surrounding areas.
Other Information
We belong to the Family Support Centers of Utah, a network of 11 state-licensed centers including 17 crisis respite nursery locations in Utah. We maintain funding through Grand County with grants allocated by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
We are known to many in the community as the Moab Christmas Box House which was initially established in our present building as a shelter in 1998. We cherish the origins of this safe haven as we continue strengthening families and protecting children. Although we preserve a special partnership with Christmas Box International based in Salt Lake City, we are no longer operated under their direction. Grand County Family Support Center is a non-profit organization licensed by the State of Utah. We value and appreciate your support!
