Spring Spruce Up is an annual, community-wide day of service dedicated to enhancing Moab's trails, trailheads, parks, and recreational areas. The event brings together local organizations and volunteers who work alongside project leaders on a variety of service projects throughout the community.

Spring Spruce Up unites volunteers to tackle issues such as trail erosion, maintenance, invasive weed removal, fence building, and trailhead cleanups, among other essential projects aimed at improving our recreational areas.

FRIDAY 4/10 - "Best Day Ever" Screening 

  • 6:30pm-9pm - Join us at Star Hall to watch "Best Day Ever"; a Documentary film that follows KBF's Chief Program Ambassador Greg Durso and community member Allie Bianchi as they tackle the daily challenges of disability and find joy, connections, and belonging in Vermont's mountain biking community. Hosted by Steward Moab. Door Price: $10 children, $20 adult.

SATURDAY 4/11 - Work Day!

  • 8am - 9am - Volunteers will meet at the MARC for coffee and sign up for their project. Sandwich supplies  and snacks will be provided for volunteers to make a sack lunch before heading out for the work day.
  • 9am - At 9 am, you will drive, carpool, or walk/bike to your project site.  
  • Around 3 pm - Work day finished! Go home, shower, and rest!
  • AFTER Work-Day Celebration at 5pm - If available, return to the MARC for dinner from Spitfire Smokehouse, partner and sponsor recognition, an opportunity drawing with awesome prizes, and live music!

SUNDAY 4/13 - Free Mountain Bike Shuttle for Volunteers

  • There will be a FREE shuttle up Sand Flats Road provided by Whole Enchilada Shuttle Company and Western Spirit Cycling Adventures for volunteers. Sign up for this shuttle will be during Saturday morning coffee.

  5. Castleton Campground Stewardship - Utah Open Lands
  6. Fence Additions and Repair - Motorized Trails Committee
  7. Weeds and Anonymous Park Maintenance - Friends of Anonymous Park and Grand County Weeds
  8. Trail Work - Friends of Indian Creek and Climbers
  9. Rock work and fencing - Utahraptor State Park

What To Bring & Wear for Volunteering

Our trail projects involve hiking, lifting rocks and logs, and using hand tools to dig, move, and sculpt soil. Be prepared to get dirty!

What To Wear

  • Work gloves
  • Closed-toed shoes that are comfortable for hiking
  • Long pants
  • T-shirt or long-sleeve shirt
  • Jackets and layers for changing weather conditions. Temperatures and wind change quickly, and the desert can be cold.
  • Sun protection (hat, sun glasses, sun screen)

What To Bring

  • Day pack
  • 3 Liters (or more) of water
  • Snacks
  • Lunch (Will have sandwich fixings available Saturday Morning)
